Weekly Round Up
It's been a busy few weeks here, with a lot of travel and a handful of upcoming shows, but I did take a minute to pause and look around this morning while I was walking Charlie, and I couldn’t believe the leaves were already starting to change color!
I’m definitely looking forward to autumn, colorful leaves, and cooler temperatures; as much as I’ve enjoyed summer, I’ve been eyeing my sweaters a lot lately.
In the meantime, I’m going to focus on slowing down in all aspects of life, and really take in the last weeks of this season. One easy way to do that, at least for me, is to read a good book. I’ve got a massive collection of Jane Austen’s complete novels (which also works wonders as a yoga block!) that I’m currently working through. I’m reading Sense & Sensibility now, mostly while soaking in an Epsom salt bath before bed. (Nightly routine for the win!)
I've also made it a practice to actively seek out the good, instead of overlooking the little, "mundane" things that make up a life, like a smile from a stranger or a helping hand in the kitchen. On a digital side, I've found that cleaning up my social media feeds - Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram - and removing anything that feeds or creates negative feelings in my heart has helped tremendously.
Instead of being hit with post after post about what's wrong in the world, I've made it a point to follow accounts (like The Dodo, for example) that share the kind, ordinary people doing good things that are so often overlooked...like Takis from Takis Shelter, who has rescued over 500 stray dogs from a dump in Greece. (If this video doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will!)
My mantra for the week? “Live in grace, walk in love.” — Bob Goff.
My meditation for the week is this beautiful Meditation for Positivity & Peace by Boho Beautiful’s Juliana, and my practice for the week is this Cozy Yoga Flow by Yoga with Adriene (I must really be craving some cold weather + all the hygge that comes along with it!).
But until it arrives, I'm going to enjoy a few more walks with the dogs, the last of the daisies blooming in the front yard, and maybe a few morning yoga flows on the porch.
Wishing you happy, healthy, and well!
